Even though you have your back acne scars covered with clothing you still feel embarrassed by your back acne and the scars. If you are a man you never want to take your shirt off when working or playing outdoors and you certainly are embarrassed when you are with your girl friend.
If you are a woman your back acne scars make it impossible to wear a dress or top with an open back.
Bacne causes damage to the skin due to the fact that your skin may be creating very little tissue or too much of it. Hypertrophic or keloid scars form on your back or chest if your skin makes more tissue and atrophic scars result in a back where little tissue is created. Atrophic scars resemble little depression on the skin, while hypertrophic scars appear like thick raised patches on your skin.
Acne scar surgery, microdermabrasion, chemical peel treatments and laser resurfacing are some of the common treatments for acne scars. It would depend on the nature and the severity of the acne, which treatment would be recommended.
Scar surgery treatment
Acne scar surgery is very effective for removing the acne scarred skin tissue. After the removal of the damaged skin, skin from another area of the body (usually the back of one’s ear) is grafted onto the affected area and allowed to re-grow with time and fill the craters.
Chemical peels treatment
Chemical peel treatments is a method effective for treating all types of acne scars and can be done at home or at the hospital. Low concentration peels can be used for mild scars and high strength peels are most effective for deep scars. If you wish to administer a home peel yourself you will find that they are quite affordable and then you will avoid a need to consult your doctor.
Laser treatment
Laser resurfacing is a type of surgery whereby the doctor uses a laser beam to burn and destroy the damaged scar tissue. It is quite expensive and would be considered as a method of last resort. There is no blood lost during this surgery and it is quite safe.
Microdermabrasion treatment
A non-surgical procedure called microdermabrasion uses small crystals to exfoliate the skin so new, scar-free skin can grow. With this procedure, the skin is sprayed with crystals and the dermatologist “buffs” the affected area. This removes the aged, damaged skin and gives way for the new skin to grow. This procedure is most effective for mild acne. It is painless and feels rather like getting a facial massage. This procedure is really not recommended for severe back acne scars and craters.
